In September 2008, Ryan, Josh, and former band member for 8 years Christina, formed the group Twelve24 under the organisation The Message Trust, a Christian charity in Manchester, U.K. The mission was to go into High Schools around Manchester to talk about issues of faith, respect, anti-bullying and other subjects affecting young people. We worked tirelessly, passionately and relentlessly for almost 10 years towards the goal of inspiring, transforming and improving young people's lives and helping people connect with God - many for the first time. Over the years it has developed into something we never could have asked, thought or even imagined, and for that we are truly thankful and privileged to have been part of it.
In many ways, we feel as if Twelve24 was, and is, the combination of its original members, Ryan, Josh, and Christina, with the specific mission of touring High Schools in the U.K. helping kids connect with Jesus. For us, that is Twelve24's identity. Since Christina left the band, we increasingly felt like Twelve24 wasn't the same without her. It was becoming something NEW! Over time we have come to realise that Twelve24 should remain and always be remembered as Ryan, Josh and Christina.
After performing together one last time at Christina's wedding recently, we were both profoundly impacted (Ryan cried like a girl...so did Josh) and felt as if that performance completed 10 years of school’s ministry, brother and sisterhood, crazy long drives having super deep conversations, awesome gigs with awesome friends, family and fans, and ultimately, we felt as if it completed Twelve24 itself in a joyful moment of celebration. But at the same time this was by no means the end of the band…
Ironically, the band was named after John 12:24 which says, "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." Our vision was born out of one band (The World-Wide Message Tribe) ending so that many other things could grow out of it; other bands (like us), ministries, charities, and new life in young people. So, it almost seems fitting that in order for Twelve24 to really grow and go to the next level (which we really want), according to that Bible verse, we have to, in some sense, finish for new things to grow. So, this is it. The closing of one chapter for another one to begin…
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
Ryan and Josh are rebranding the band and changing its name. It will be as a 2 piece who’s aim is still the same heart that Twelve24 had at its core. Our sound will undoubtedly have some of the same elements that you have become accustomed to over the past 10 years, but it will at the same time start taking on a new direction as we write music for just the two of us to perform. We hope you guys will love the new music and walk with us on this journey as we discover ourselves musically. We understand change isn’t always easy and some people may find it difficult to hear something different from us, so we ask for your grace along the way. These things take time. We also wanted to say we love you guys so much and thank you all for your unfailing support. You are the reason why we still do what we do.
Also, we have a few festivals and concerts booked in for the remainder of 2018 which have been promoted as Twelve24, these will still be going ahead, and we will still be there, as Social Beingz, and performing Twelve24 songs as well as newer Social Beingz ones so we look forward to seeing you on the road.
So, THIS is Phase Two!
Say hello to Social Beingz, a brand-new band and a new chapter to continue what we started as Twelve24. Celebrating all that went before and thanking God for the future ahead. The group will consist only of Ryan and Josh. We still occasionally travel with Tessa E and the live band too from time to time, but Social Beingz will remain a 2-piece for the foreseeable future as Ryan and Josh continue what they started. WLDKDZ will still remain the name of the fan base and merchandise range. Twelve24’s music and videos will remain online for you to continue to enjoy, and don't worry, we will still perform some of the people's favourite Twelve24 songs like Higher, Say Yes, #Vivalawldkdz, and obviously all the ones we have released in the last few years like The Book, What You Got, With You and Keep A Little Love. For the future, it's Social Beingz, F.K.A. Twelve24, same vision, same mission, same passion, some of the same people but a whole new band. We have so many things in store for you, it's super exciting!
AND, onto Phase Three! Social Beingz will be dropping their first single called All Cried Out Ft. Tessa E and the music video on Friday 13th July, so watch this space because the countdown begins now...
